Virtual Community Outreach

To protect the health, well-being, and public safety of students, employees and community members the DJUSD Bond Program Community Outreach meetings are being held virtually. To share information about the facility improvements at César Chávez Elementary, a conceptual plan has been posted, below.

The new MPR at César Chávez is in the final stages of construction and has an anticipated completion date of summer 2022. Our CCE school community is eagerly anticipating the use of this new facility.

A portion of this project is proposed to address garden and bike rack improvements. This conceptual plan addresses the following proposed site enhancements:

  • The existing path surrounding the playfield is in need of repair and would be resurfaced to enhance a safe pedestrian path around the playfield.

  • A new path segment would be added to provide easy access from the south side of campus to the north side. This would deliver an effective path of transport for students and families to access the proposed new bike corral as well as the new MPR.

  • A new garden area would be a bridge between the blacktop and the playfields. The expansion and relocation of the garden would also provide ample space and opportunities for outdoor instruction.

Please note, if approved, the specific alignment of the new path portion and the new garden area design may differ slightly from the concept plan presented.

Please provide your thoughts and feedback on this proposed portion of this Bond project. Please email [email protected] by June 17, 2022. Thank you for your time and your contribution to our schools, students, staff and community.
