Home and Hospital Instruction

Students with temporary illnesses or injuries are entitled to a maximum of five hours per week of instruction for 3-8 weeks in their homes or in hospitals if the facility is located within the boundaries of DJUSD. The home/hospital instructor will consult with the student’s classroom teacher(s) to provide instruction that enables the student to stay current with the regular school program.

Please contact your counselor or the school nurse for more information or to request this service. Home/Hospital instruction is not intended for students with long-term health or mental health needs. For students with long-term needs, parents/guardians should discuss options with the school nurse and/or counselor.

Students receiving Special Education Services must first contact their Case Manager or School Psychologist to request an IEP meeting to determine the educational needs of the student.
